Privacy Policy — Sigla

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

• Your gestures and shortcuts — stored only on your device; never uploaded to us or anyone else.
• Personal information — no account, no name, no email address, no phone number.
• Usage analytics — we do not track how you use the app. There is no analytics SDK.
• Advertising data — Sigla shows no ads and contains no advertising SDK. It does not collect or share an advertising ID.
• Location, contacts, microphone or camera — Sigla requests none of these permissions. The camera button opens your own camera app; Sigla never accesses the camera itself.

2. Data Stored On Your Device Only

• Your marks — each saved gesture is a list of coordinates, together with the name and action you chose for it.
• Your deck — the buttons that fan out from the floating button, their order, and — if you set one up — which app each deck belongs to.
• Settings — button size, colour, ink, and which apps the floating button stays out of.

All of the above lives in the app's private storage. Sigla has no code that uploads any of it.

Backups. Settings lets you save a backup file of your gestures, decks and button settings, and restore it later. You choose where the file is saved through Android's file picker; it is not encrypted, and Sigla never sends it anywhere. It does not include your Premium status or your answer to the accessibility disclosure.

Moving to a new phone. Sigla is excluded from Android's cloud backup entirely. On Android 12 and later, if you set up a new phone with Android's phone-to-phone transfer (cable or Wi-Fi), Android copies your gestures, decks and settings directly to the new phone. It does not copy your answer to the accessibility disclosure, so the new phone asks again, or your Premium status, which the new phone checks with Google Play itself.

3. Permissions

• Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — draws the floating button. Without it the app is only reachable from your home screen.
• Foreground service & notification — Android requires a visible notification while an overlay runs. It is set to the quietest level allowed. This is what stops the system killing the button.
• Start at boot — brings the floating button back after a restart, if you had it switched on.
• Modify system settings (WRITE_SETTINGS) — only if you add a brightness or rotation-lock button. Requested the first time you use one, not during setup.
• Set alarm — for the timer and alarm actions. It sets them in your clock app; it does not read your existing alarms.
• Billing — for the optional one-time purchase.
• Internet — used only to send a crash report if the app crashes. Nothing you have saved is sent.
• Tasker — only used if you have Tasker installed and choose a Tasker action.

Sigla deliberately does not request QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES. To list your apps it uses a standard <queries> filter for launchable apps, which returns exactly what a launcher needs and nothing more.

4. The Accessibility Service

Accessibility is the most powerful switch Android asks anyone to flip, so here is precisely what Sigla's service is configured to do. Everything in Sigla works without it except the four features listed below.

It is used for:

• Screenshots — the screenshot action.
• Navigation actions — back, home, recents, notification shade, Quick Settings, power menu, lock screen.
• The lock-screen button — only an accessibility overlay may appear above the lock screen. While the screen is on, it reads the proximity sensor so it can ignore touches when the phone is in a pocket; the readings are not stored.
• Knowing which app is in front — so the floating button can stay out of apps you exclude, open the deck you set up for that app, and lift above the keyboard.

What it is not able to do, by configuration rather than by promise:

• It cannot read the content of your screen. The service declares canRetrieveWindowContent="false". It never receives the text of your messages, passwords, web pages or any other on-screen content.
• It cannot perform gestures on your behalf (canPerformGestures="false").
• It receives only one kind of event — typeWindowStateChanged — from which it reads the package name of the app that came to the front, and whether the new window is the on-screen keyboard. Nothing else.
• Until you agree to the disclosure inside Sigla, it reads nothing from those events, even if the service was switched on in Android Settings.

The screenshot action asks Android to take the screenshot with its own screenshot feature, the same one the power and volume buttons use. Android saves it to your gallery; Sigla never receives the image, and does not keep or transmit a copy. The foreground package name is used in memory to decide whether to show the button, and is not stored or sent anywhere.

5. Clipboard and Selected Text

Two features touch text you have chosen:

• Clipboard actions (search, open as link, dial, map, share) read the clipboard at the moment you tap that button, and pass the text to the app you chose. Sigla does not monitor the clipboard in the background and does not keep a history.
• Selected text — if you pick Sigla from Android's text-selection menu, that selection is passed to Sigla for the action you then choose. It is not stored.

6. Purchases

Sigla offers an optional one-time in-app purchase. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive your card or payment details. Google's handling of the transaction is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

7. Third-Party Services

Sigla includes the Google Play Billing library, for the purchase above, and Google Play's In-App Review library, which may ask you to rate the app using Google Play's own review prompt. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDK. It does include Firebase Crashlytics, which sends a crash report if the app crashes; see below.

• Firebase Crashlytics — If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a crash report so we can fix the problem. A report contains the error's technical details (stack trace), device model, Android version, app version, and a random Crashlytics installation ID. It never includes your content, such as your gestures, and it contains no name, email or advertising ID. Reports are processed by Google and kept for up to 90 days. We do not sell or share them.

8. Children

Sigla is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and the updated policy is published here.
