Privacy Policy — PixPort

Important: PixPort is an independent utility app. It is NOT a government application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by Passport Seva, the Ministry of External Affairs, or the Government of India. PixPort only helps you prepare image files to published size specifications; acceptance of any file is determined solely by the official portal.
Summary
PixPort processes all photos and signatures entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to your photos, signatures, or any personal data, and there are no analytics. If the app crashes, a technical crash report is sent so we can fix it; see section 4.
The free version of the app does show ads, supplied by Google AdMob. Google collects limited technical information to serve them, described in section 4. Buying the one-time unlock removes the ads. We never see any personal data behind them.
1. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Photos and signature images — processed locally; never uploaded to any server
- Face detection data — Google ML Kit runs on-device only; no biometric data leaves your phone
- Glasses check — for formats that require it, a small classifier built into the app checks on your device whether glasses are worn; the photo is not sent anywhere
- Personal information — no accounts, no names, no email addresses
- Usage analytics — no analytics SDK is included; we receive no record of how you use the app
- Anything you type — the app has no text you enter about yourself, no account, and no sign-in
2. Data Stored On Your Device Only
- Processed images — saved to your device gallery (Pictures/PassportPhoto) only when you tap Save
- Temporary files — camera captures, processed images, print sheets and signatures are kept in the app's private cache directory; the app deletes them after about an hour, and Android may clear them sooner
- Settings — your choices, such as the app language, are kept in the app's private preferences. These may be included in Android's own device backup; your photos and your purchase status are not
When you tap Share, the finished image is passed to the app you choose in Android's share sheet, and what happens to it next is governed by that app.
3. Permissions
- Camera — used only for the optional guided in-app capture, and only while that screen is open. Photos taken there stay on your device like any other photo you process. Choosing a photo from your gallery does not need it.
- Photos — PixPort does not request access to your photo library. When you choose a photo or signature, Android's photo picker hands the app only the image you selected. Saving a result to your gallery needs no permission on Android 10 and later; on Android 9 and older the app asks for storage write access for that purpose only.
- Internet — used to fetch ads for the free version, to complete a purchase through Google Play, to send a crash report if the app crashes, and to open this policy in your browser. Your photos are never among what is sent.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google ML Kit Face Detection — runs entirely on your phone, using a model built into the app. Your images are not sent to Google. See Google ML Kit terms.
- Google AdMob — shows ads in the free version. To do so, Google may collect your Advertising ID (a resettable device identifier), ad interaction data, device model, operating-system version, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. You can reset that identifier in Android Settings under Privacy or Google - Ads, or remove ads entirely with the one-time unlock.
- Google User Messaging Platform — shows the advertising consent form used in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and records your answer. See section 5.
- Google Play Billing — handles the one-time purchase. Your payment details go to Google; we receive only confirmation that a purchase was made.
- Firebase Crashlytics — If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a crash report so we can fix the problem. A report contains the error's technical details (stack trace), device model, Android version, app version, and a random Crashlytics installation ID. It never includes your content, such as your photos or signatures, and it contains no name, email or advertising ID. Reports are processed by Google and kept for up to 90 days. We do not sell or share them.
5. Ad Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you are in a region that requires it, PixPort shows Google's consent form the first time you open the app. Your answer decides whether ads may be requested at all and whether they are personalised, and it is recorded on your device.
If you were shown that form, you can reopen it and change your answer at any time from the app’s Settings screen, under Ad Preferences, and withdrawing consent takes effect immediately without restarting the app. The row appears only for users whose region requires it, so if you never saw the form you will not see the row either — outside those regions, use your device’s own ad settings as described in section 4.
6. Purchases
PixPort offers a single one-time unlock, sold through Google Play. It is not a subscription and nothing renews. We do not receive or store your payment details.
7. Children
PixPort is not directed at children. We collect no personal information ourselves. Crash reports (section 4) contain no name, email or advertising ID; the advertising described in section 4 is handled by Google under its own policies, and ads are restricted to a general-audience rating.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
