These terms apply when you use Diurna. By using the App you agree to them.
1. Licence
You have a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Diurna on devices you own. You may not reverse-engineer the App except where the law permits it regardless of this term.
2. What You Write Is Yours
We claim no ownership of anything you put into Diurna, and no right to read, use, or publish it. We have no way to do so in any case: the App holds your writing on your device and cannot transmit it.
3. Your Journal Lives On Your Device
Diurna keeps no copy of your writing anywhere else. There is no account to recover, and we cannot restore anything for you - not if the App is uninstalled, not if the device is lost, reset, or replaced, and not if a file is deleted.
Exporting is how you keep a copy. The App can write your journal to a file you choose - the complete backup, a ZIP archive that includes your photographs, voice notes and videos, is free - and doing so periodically is the only protection against losing it. If your writing matters to you, export it and keep that file somewhere you trust.
4. Reminders Are Best Effort
Reminders are scheduled through Android, and Android decides when an app is allowed to run. Battery saving, Doze, device restarts, force-stopping the App, and system permissions can all delay a reminder or prevent it arriving. Diurna asks the system for the time you set; it cannot guarantee delivery, and it should not be relied on for anything time-critical or safety-related.
5. Photographs, Voice Notes And Videos
When you attach a photograph or video, or record a voice note, the App saves its own copy so the entry still shows it later. That copy lives with the App: removing it from the page, or uninstalling, deletes it. Diurna does not alter or delete the original in your gallery.
6. Importing
Diurna can read back a file it exported. Importing adds pages and fills entries that are empty; it does not replace writing already on a page. A file that has been edited outside the App, or produced by something else, may be rejected or may not import completely.
7. App Lock
The optional app lock defers entirely to your device's own authentication. We hold no PIN or password of our own, which also means we have no way to let you in if you lose access to your device's screen lock, and no reset to offer. The lock protects your journal from someone picking up your unlocked phone; it is not encryption, and it does not protect the App's data from someone with physical access to an unlocked or compromised device. It also does not cover what Android shows outside the App: reminder notifications and the home-screen widget remain visible while the lock is on.
8. Purchases
Diurna is free to use. An optional unlock, a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, adds further page types, style packs and features. It is handled by Google Play under its own terms and refund policy. We do not process payments and never see your payment details. What is included in a purchase is described in the App at the time you buy.
9. Availability
We may change or discontinue the App without notice.
10. No Warranty
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
11. Limitation Of Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages or for loss of data arising from use of the App.
12. Changes To These Terms
We may revise these terms. Continued use after a revision means you accept it; the date above reflects the latest version.
